IGMP Querier Checklist for School Recognition Video Displays
A school recognition display IGMP querier is the network device—either a multicast-capable router or a switch configured with a software querier—that sends periodic IGMP General Membership Queries on the VLAN carrying your recognition video streams. Without an active querier on that VLAN, the switch’s IGMP snooping tables age out and the switch stops forwarding multicast traffic to display ports. The result is a recognition screen that goes dark or freezes mid-video at exactly the moment a visitor, parent, or honored athlete is standing in front of it.
